A Few Things You Should Not Pack When You Move

To have a stress free move, we highly suggest that you do some organization and planning. Being a smart packer is not only about putting heavy items on the bottom and lighter things on top; it is also about understanding what not to pack.

Here are a few things you should not pack in boxes for your move.

Food From Your Fridge

Morrison Moving does not condone wasting perfectly good food. We do suggest that in the weeks leading up to the move day that you try to cut down the number of groceries that you buy with the goal of have barely any leftovers. If you are moving locally, it is sensible to place your condiments and perishable food in a cooler. Do not put these items in a box. Try to use up your frozen goods before you move so you can use up older items first.

Extra Items That You Don’t Want

In the event you have outfits that you never used in your closet, do not bring them with you. Extra things can be a burden in your new household. Examine what you are packing and determine if what you have is worth making the trip. Many people start this new chapter in their lives by reducing clutter like old board games, magazines, and novelty items.

Pet Supplies

Avoid packing away your pet supplies. You will need a collection of food, treats, toys, pee pads, and litter to help your pets keep calm, comfortable, and entertained.

Plants

Based on how attached you are to your houseplants, it could make more sense to leave the plants for the next homeowner. Plants are incredibly sensitive and can promptly pick up on environmental changes. Some customers leave their plants to the next homeowner. There is no guarantee that your plants will survive the trip. Make sure to correctly prepare them before the move by pruning them and ensuring that the soil is moist. Take them in your car if the plants fit. Some moving companies don’t move plants. Consult with a moving company to be sure.

Toiletries

Some customers pack away the essentials including toiletries. When you arrive at your new house, the very last thing you’ll most likely want to do is to start unpacking right away. That is why packing the essentials in an easy-to-access overnight bag will allow you to locate your toothbrush, toilet paper, and shampoo.
