Dealing With Moving Stress

When people are moving, it’s common to feel stressed! It is known that people move to 4 to 5 different homes during their lifetime on average. Often this is due to a job relocation, increased family size, and relationship breakups. Therefore, we came up with a list of suggestions to help you handle your moving stress:

Planning

Just how much of time you have until you need to move might not always be in your control. Therefore crafting an action plan the moment you know you are moving. This may help you prevent some stress in the future. Be reasonable with your moving goals and take into consideration the amount of time and budget you have available. The first thing will be to plan your moving date, making sure there is a small amount of overlap between your new and old place. In this way, once you have moved everything, you can go back to clean and pick up any leftover items. By beginning the process as early as you can and booking a moving company in advance, your move will be more organized.

Protection

The very last thing you want happening on your move is critical valuables getting lost. Prepare by collecting all your valuables and keeping them in a safe place for the duration of your move. Consider keeping these items in a safe located in your home, a friend’s house, or at a safety deposit box at a bank. Also, store all your important paperwork and valuable family heirlooms at the same location. Keep a record of everything including all invoices, receipts, and more in a special file or on your computer. This would provide you with convenient access to this information.

Having Fun

Moving can be a stressful time, but it doesn’t mean that it must take up your day. We suggest that you do some activities that you like to relieve some stress. This includes fun activities, including working out, going for a walk, or watching TV or a movie. Have some time for yourself during the moving process. Ensure your body is taken care of so you don't get sick. You are going to need extra energy and fuel to make your move a success.

Help

Don't try to be a hero when moving. Accept the help of family and friends to help you get the work done faster. Also, this allows you to spend time with people you care about. After you have completed some items on your list you can celebrate your progress by ordering some pizza.
